Ami Bera, M.D., a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 6th district since 2013, recently shared several significant updates via social media. Bera, who succeeded Dan Lungren in Congress and was born in Los Angeles in 1965, is currently residing in Elk Grove.
On June 5, 2025, Bera marked the 36th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre by introducing a bipartisan resolution with Representative Young Kim. He stated: “As we mark the 36th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, I introduced a bipartisan resolution with @RepYoungKim honoring the countless individuals who risked—and in many cases lost—their lives in the pursuit of democracy and basic human rights.”
Later that day, Bera highlighted an analysis from the Congressional Budget Office regarding healthcare impacts under President Trump’s proposed bill. He tweeted: “New analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office finds that 16 million people will lose their health care if President Trump gets his way. We must defeat this bill.”
In another post on June 5, Bera addressed ongoing distractions involving Donald Trump and Elon Musk while reiterating his focus on healthcare protection. He wrote: “Don’t let Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Twitter war distract you from what’s at stake: 16 million people will lose their health care if Trump’s ‘beautiful’ bill gets to his desk. While they continue to fight, I am focused on protecting your health care.”
Ami Bera graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
