Ami Bera, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 6th district since 2013, addressed topics ranging from vaccine misinformation to nuclear disarmament in a series of posts on his social media account this week.

On August 6, 2025, Bera responded to statements made by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. regarding mRNA vaccines. He wrote, “RFK Jr.’s claims about mRNA vaccines are not grounded in science. Vaccines developed using mRNA technology saved millions of lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. This groundbreaking technology remains one of our most powerful tools to prevent future pandemics and develop https://t.co/9Za7WKpuBl”.

In another post dated August 7, 2025, Bera marked the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima: “Today marks 80 years since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. In 2023, I visited Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park and reflected on the immense human toll of that day. It was a powerful and sobering reminder of the devastating consequences of nuclear warfare. Ami Bera has served as a U.S. Representative for California’s 6th District since replacing Dan Lungren in 2013 and is known for his background as a physician and legislator with an interest in public health issues. Born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently residing in Elk Grove, Bera graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1987.
