Ami Bera, M.D., a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 6th district since 2013, recently shared his views on two significant issues via social media. Born in Los Angeles in 1965 and residing in Elk Grove, Bera has been an active voice in political discourse.
On July 9, 2025, Ami Bera addressed a recent decision by Republicans regarding healthcare policy. He stated that “Last week, Republicans voted to take away health care from nearly 17 million Americans.” The congressman expressed his commitment to ensuring this action remains at the forefront of public awareness with the remark, “We won’t let them forget.”
The following day, July 10, Bera called for accountability concerning national security matters. He criticized Secretary Hegseth’s actions by stating “In March, I called on Secretary Hegseth to resign for sharing classified information in an unsecured group chat.” Further expressing concern over Hegseth’s conduct, he noted that “Secretary Hegseth has once again put lives at risk by recklessly and unilaterally pausing critical U.S. military assistance to Ukraine.”
In a subsequent post on the same day, Bera highlighted challenges within the administration due to personnel gaps. Quoting sources close to the situation, he relayed that “Two of the sources attributed Hegseth’s not informing the White House to the fact that he has no chief of staff or trusted advisers around him that might urge him to coordinate major policy decisions better with the interagency partners.”
Ami Bera holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Irvine obtained in 1987.
