Ami Bera, M.D., a current member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 6th district, recently shared several updates on social media. Bera, who has been serving since 2013 after succeeding Dan Lungren, took to Twitter to address various topics including Pride Month celebrations, international relations, and local community issues.
On June 1, 2025, Bera expressed his support for the LGBTQ+ community by stating “Happy Pride Month, Sacramento County! This month, join me in celebrating the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community to our great nation. As a proud member of the @EqualityCaucus, I’m committed to fighting for equal rights, dignity and justice for everyone—no matter who you are”.
In another tweet dated June 3, 2025, Bera congratulated Lee Jae-myung on his election victory in South Korea. He remarked “Congratulations to Lee Jae-myung on his election victory! I look forward to working together to further strengthen the alliance between the United States and South Korea.”
Later that day on June 3rd, he recounted a recent town hall meeting held in Citrus Heights. He tweeted “Last night, I held a town hall in Citrus Heights where I listened to your concerns about this Administration’s attacks on our community, health care and rule of law. I look forward to continuing these important conversations as I continue fighting for Sacramento County and our”.
Ami Bera was born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently resides in Elk Grove. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1987.
