Ami Bera, M.D., a current member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 6th district, has been vocal on social media about his commitment to healthcare and equality issues. Serving since 2013, Bera has consistently emphasized his dedication to public service, reflecting his background as a medical professional.
On June 17, 2025, Bera highlighted the impartiality required in emergency medical care. He stated, “As doctors, we take an oath to put our patients first. When a woman comes to the ER, we don’t check her party affiliation. We provide the emergency care she needs to survive. That’s our duty. That’s the law. And I’ll keep fighting to protect it.”
The following day, June 18, 2025, he reiterated his stance on reproductive health care access by stating “I won’t stop fighting to protect access to reproductive health care.” He encouraged constituents to stay informed by subscribing to his newsletter for updates on his congressional work.
On June 19, 2025, Bera commemorated Juneteenth with a reflection on historical progress and ongoing struggles for equality. He remarked “160 years ago today, news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas… On Juneteenth, we reflect on our nation’s progress, honor Black resilience, and renew our commitment to the fight for equality and justice for all.”
Ami Bera was born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently resides in Elk Grove. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
