Ami Bera, M.D., U.S. Congressman representing California’s 6th district since 2013, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing animal protection, civil rights history, and gender equality.

On March 7, 2026, Bera highlighted his recognition from the Humane World Action Fund. Ami Bera was born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently resides in Elk Grove. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a BS degree in 1987. Since entering Congress after replacing Dan Lungren in 2013, he has been an advocate for animal welfare legislation as well as civil rights issues.
