Ami Bera, M.D., U.S. Congressman representing California’s 6th district since 2013, recently posted a series of messages on social media highlighting local community efforts and national milestones.
On August 4, 2025, Bera acknowledged the longstanding service of the United States Coast Guard. He wrote, “For 235 years, the brave men and women of the United States Coast Guard have protected our shores, saved lives, and served our nation with honor. Two days later, on August 6, Bera discussed public transit improvements in Sacramento County following a meeting with local officials. He stated, “Great meeting with @RideSacRT to discuss how we can grow ridership and better connect communities across Sacramento County. Later that same day, Bera reflected on the anniversary of landmark civil rights legislation. He posted, “As we mark the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, I’m thinking of my friend and American hero John Lewis. Ami Bera has represented California’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Dan Lungren in 2013. Born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently residing in Elk Grove, Bera holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of California, Irvine (1987).
