Ami Bera, M.D., U.S. Congressman representing California’s 6th district since 2013, addressed several national policy concerns in a series of posts on his social media account this week.
On December 10, 2025, Bera criticized recent executive actions related to U.S.-China technology competition. In his post, he stated: “This is a dangerous move that undermines our technological edge over China. The president should not be allowed to make unilateral decisions like this behind closed doors and over the objections of our national security experts. That’s why I introduced legislation with https://t.co/JtALYp43Pz”.
Later that same day, Bera turned his attention to economic issues facing American families. He posted: “Affordability is not a hoax. It’s something American families deal with every day from putting food on the table to paying the rent to deciding whether they can afford health insurance. This is a crisis and Donald Trump is making a joke out of it.”
Continuing on the topic of affordability and healthcare access, Bera wrote on December 11, 2025: “You should never have to choose between putting food on your table, covering your rent, and paying your health insurance premium. But for more than 20 million Americans, that already difficult decision will become even harder if Affordable Care Act subsidies are allowed to”.
Bera has represented California’s 6th District in Congress since replacing Dan Lungren in 2013. He was born in Los Angeles in 1965 and currently resides in Elk Grove. A graduate of the University of California, Irvine (class of 1987), Bera has frequently spoken about economic pressures affecting working families as well as national security concerns related to international competition.
