Congressman Brad Sherman, who represents California’s 32nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent oversight visits and incidents in Los Angeles.
On August 11, 2025, Sherman wrote, “Today, @RepJudyChu, @JimmyGomezCA, @RepMaxineWaters and I conducted a Congressional oversight visit of LA’s Metropolitan Detention Center and the DHS – #ICE L.A. enforcement office to push for transparency and oversight of detention conditions and enforcement practices that have”. The following day, he added more details about the visit: “Amid #ICERaids across LA, @JimmyGomezCA @RepJudyChu @RepMaxineWaters & I conducted an oversight visit of the LA Metropolitan Detention Center & DHS Field Office. What we got: a scripted, watered-down tour What we want: the truth We won’t stop until we get it. Full Statement:”.
In another post dated August 13, 2025, Sherman addressed a separate incident involving antisemitic vandalism at the national headquarters of the Israeli-American Council in his district: “This past weekend, the national headquarters of the Israeli-American Council @israeliamerican, located in my congressional district, was tagged with antisemitic vandalism. Antisemitic incidents like this one are at historic levels, but the frequency with which they occur”.
Sherman has served as a member of Congress since 1997 after succeeding Anthony Beilenson. He was born in Los Angeles in 1954 and currently resides in Sherman Oaks. Sherman holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
