Congressman Brad Sherman, who has represented California’s 32nd district in the U.S. Congress since 1997, posted a series of statements on social media addressing international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, criticism of the Trump administration, and recent events related to immigration enforcement.
On August 28, 2025, Sherman wrote: “I commend Prime Minister Netanyahu on his recognition of the #ArmenianGenocide. All nations should recognize this historic atrocity, something I have advocated for decades.
I urge the Knesset to follow suit and finally pass a formal recognition of the Armenian genocide, just as”. The statement reflects Sherman’s longstanding advocacy for global acknowledgment of the Armenian Genocide.
Later that day, Sherman criticized actions taken by former President Donald Trump’s administration. On August 28, he posted: “Outrageous concealment effort of the Trump administration.

In another post dated August 29, Sherman referenced both a recent fire and federal immigration policy changes under Trump: “Thank God the #PalisadesFire was extinguished before Trump could fully take over immigration enforcement.
(Trump was inaugurated on January 20th, but did not fully effectuate his immigration policies during his first weeks in office.) https://t.co/DaoBVsiBiS“.
Sherman has been an active figure in Congress since replacing Anthony Beilenson in 1997. Born in Los Angeles in 1954 and currently residing in Sherman Oaks, he holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard University. His career has included ongoing efforts to address issues such as genocide recognition and federal transparency.
