Congressman Brad Sherman, representing California’s 32nd district since 1997, has recently taken to social media to express his concerns regarding recent ICE raids in Los Angeles. His comments reflect a strong stance against these actions and support for those affected.
On June 6, 2025, Sherman tweeted about the arrest of David Huerta during an ICE raid. He described Huerta as “a respected champion for working families with SEIU” and labeled the incident as “outrageous.” Sherman expressed solidarity with Huerta, stating, “I stand with David.”
The following day, on June 7, Sherman continued his critique of the ICE operations by sharing a post from Dave Gillotte, President of Firefighters 1014. In his tweet, he stated that the “#ICE raids in Los Angeles are tearing our communities apart.” This indicates Sherman’s concern over the broader impact of these actions on community cohesion.
Later on June 7, Sherman reiterated his disapproval by expressing support for another individual affected by the situation. He tweeted: “This is outrageous. I stand with @NormaJTorres.” Although details were sparse in this particular message, it underscored Sherman’s ongoing commitment to opposing the ICE raids.
Born in Los Angeles in 1954 and currently residing in Sherman Oaks, Brad Sherman has been a prominent figure in U.S. Congress since replacing Anthony Beilenson in 1997. An alumnus of UCLA and Harvard University Law School, he continues to be an active voice for his constituents.
