Congressman Brad Sherman, who represents California’s 32nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day and reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy of civil rights and justice.
On January 18, 2026, Sherman wrote: “Honored to join @LALabor alongside members of @IAM_Union to observe #MLKDay, reflecting on Dr. King’s reminder that civil rights and workers’ rights are inseparable and that progress requires solidarity, persistence, and action.”
The following day, January 19, 2026, he shared his participation in a local event: “It was great to join alongside Councilmember @nithyavraman and other community leaders at the Congregational Church of the Chimes’ #MLKDay celebration in Sherman Oaks — honoring Dr. King’s call for justice, equality and service to others.”
Later that same day, Sherman posted a broader reflection: “Today on #MLKDay, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His work in the struggle for civil rights continues to inspire us in our work for a more free and just country. #MLKDay2026”
Sherman has served as a member of Congress since 1997 after succeeding Anthony Beilenson as representative for California’s 32nd district. He was born in Los Angeles in 1954 and currently resides in Sherman Oaks. Sherman holds a BA from UCLA (1974) and earned his JD from Harvard University in 1979.
