Congressman Brad Sherman, who represents California’s 32nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media expressing support for Iranian democracy activists and emphasizing his stance on Federal Reserve independence.
On January 10, 2026, Sherman wrote: “The courage of Iranians demanding freedom in the streets is undeniable. For decades, I’ve fought to support Iran’s democracy movement and the universal right to live without fear or repression. Today, as always, I stand with the people of #Iran and their call for liberty and https://t.co/Kx0ksh6nOE”.
Two days later, on January 12, 2026, he reiterated his position by stating: “I stand with the people of #Iran who are demanding freedom. And I stand with those supporting them in peaceful demonstrations in my district. It seems clear that the driver was hostile to the peaceful demonstrators.”
On the same day, Sherman also addressed monetary policy issues: “I stand with an independent Federal Reserve and against intimidation.”
Sherman has served in Congress since 1997 after succeeding Anthony Beilenson as representative for California’s 32nd district. He was born in Los Angeles in 1954 and currently resides in Sherman Oaks. Sherman holds a BA from UCLA (1974) and a JD from Harvard University (1979).
