Congressman Brad Sherman, representing California’s 32nd district since 1997, has recently shared his thoughts on several pressing issues via social media. Sherman’s tweets address a range of topics from natural disasters to administrative decisions impacting federal agencies.
On July 9, 2025, Sherman expressed his concern for those affected by severe flooding in Texas. He stated, “My thoughts are with all those affected by the devastating floods in #Texas. Lives have been upended, homes lost, communities shaken. Sending strength to everyone impacted, and deep gratitude to the first responders on the ground.” He emphasized the importance of ensuring that federal support reaches those in need.
Later that day, Sherman highlighted staffing challenges within the National Weather Service since Donald Trump assumed office. He noted that “Nationwide, over 600 employees have left the National Weather Service since #DonaldTrump took office.” This includes both firings and early retirements. Rick Spinrad, former NOAA administrator, reportedly discussed these issues with The Hill earlier this week.
In another post on July 9th, Sherman criticized a recent decision by the U.S. Treasury Department regarding enforcement of financial regulations. He tweeted about the suspension of enforcement for the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), describing it as “yet another pro-crime action by the #Trump Administration.” The CTA is designed to combat money laundering and other financial crimes.
Born in Los Angeles in 1954 and currently residing in Sherman Oaks at age 68, Brad Sherman graduated from UCLA with a BA before earning a JD from Harvard University in 1979.
