Bronny James said on May 15 that he has no information about his father LeBron James’ plans for the next NBA season, following the end of the Los Angeles Lakers’ year. LeBron, who just completed a record-setting 23rd season, faces decisions about whether to continue playing and which team to join if he stays in the league.

The decision is significant for both LeBron and the Lakers as it could impact team strategy and financial planning. If LeBron returns for a 24th season, it would further separate him from other players in terms of career longevity. His choice will also influence how the Lakers build their roster for next year.

“I have no clue, I’m not gonna lie to you,” Bronny said at the conclusion of the Lakers’ season. “He looks like he can play another however many years. But he’s been in the league longer than he’s been out of the league, so it’s insane. I think he should think about it and whatever he feels happy with, do that.”

Bronny added that his father may need time off before making any decisions: “Every athlete after their season is gonna take some time to get off their feet and stuff like that,” Bronny said. “So just really depends on how your body is feeling, how your mind is feeling, and just playing it by heart.”

LeBron’s free agency opens up possibilities beyond returning to Los Angeles. Options reportedly include rejoining former teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers or joining new ones like Golden State Warriors or New York Knicks.

A recent report also described tension between LeBron James and general manager Rob Pelinka after Pelinka gave a game ball meant for an all-time wins record to head coach JJ Redick instead of James.
