The California Golden Bears men’s rugby team has released its schedule for the 2025-26 season. The program, which is entering its 144th year, will begin with three sevens tournaments in the fall before moving to a full slate of traditional 15-a-side matches.
Head Coach Jack Clark will lead the team for his 43rd season, while Associate Head Coach Tom Billups returns for his 27th year with the Bears.
Cal’s fall campaign opens on September 27 at LA Dignity Health Sports Park as part of the West Coast 7s circuit. The team then travels to Palo Alto for another tournament hosted by Stanford on October 11 and concludes the sevens series in San Diego at Oceanside Sports Complex from October 25-26. The Bears will also play a XVs match against UC Santa Cruz on November 20.
The spring portion starts January 10 at Witter Rugby Field against Cal Poly. On January 17-18, Cal heads back to Los Angeles for the Dennis Storer Classic, which returns after being canceled last year due to wildfires in Los Angeles. According to the release, “Cal has topped the tournament every year for the last 18 seasons.”
After returning home to host Olympic Club of San Francisco on January 24, Cal embarks on a four-game road trip facing UCLA, Arizona, Grand Canyon University, and traveling across the border to Vancouver to meet long-time rival University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds on February 7. Last season, Cal defeated UBC by a score of 49-24 in Berkeley.
Home matches at Strawberry Canyon include games against Brigham Young University on February 21 and Navy on March 7 during Homecoming and National Champions celebration events.
To close out regular-season play, Cal visits Army West Point Black Knights in New York on March 14 and faces Saint Mary’s College in Moraga on March 28.
The postseason begins April 11 with consecutive rounds leading up to the D1A National Collegiate Championship final set for May 2. Early playoff rounds will be hosted by higher-seeded teams.
Kickoff times for home games at Witter Rugby Field are yet to be announced. Fans can check back later or follow updates through Cal rugby’s official social media channels.
