Cal Poly beach volleyball ended its 2026 season on May 2 after a loss to No. 3 UCLA in the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.

The match was closely contested, with seven of the ten sets decided by three points or fewer. Cal Poly’s No. 2 pair, Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez, secured a win to tie the dual at 1-1 after UCLA took the first point at the No. 1 spot. However, UCLA narrowly won at both the No. 5 and No. 3 pairs to clinch a final score of 3-1.

Despite this defeat, Cal Poly finished with a record of 31-9 for the third consecutive year and captured its fourth Big West Championship title in program history. The team also marked its sixth appearance in the NCAA Championship tournament.

This season saw four Mustangs named AVCA All-Americans—the most from any school nationwide—and nine players earned All-Big West honors while ten received AVCA Top Flight honors. Two standout athletes, Ella Connor and Izzy Martinez, concluded their collegiate careers tied for Cal Poly’s all-time career wins record with 112 victories each.

Additionally, Martinez and Walter became Cal Poly’s winningest pair ever by setting records for both career wins as a duo (66) and single-season wins as a pair (36).

Looking ahead, these achievements highlight what has been described as one of the strongest seasons in program history.
