The University of California, Berkeley’s women’s lacrosse team has announced the addition of nine freshmen for the 2025-26 academic year. These new players will join the Golden Bears for their first season in 2026.
“This group hails from elite high school and club programs across the country,” said Cal head coach Jennifer Wong. “These student-athletes bring a championship pedigree, as well as the academic distinction and a competitive edge on the field that exemplifies the academic and athletic excellence that defines Cal lacrosse. With national honors, state championships and school records to their names, they are ready to make their mark at the next level.”
The incoming class includes:
Claire Engelkraut from Chatham High School in New Jersey, who was named second-team All-Stars and Stripes and third-team All-Morris County during her senior year.
Meaghan Lynch of Garden City High School in New York, who earned honorable mention Nassau All-County selection in 2025 and Academic All-American honorable mention recognition as a senior. She was also part of the Nassau All-Conference team in her junior year.
Juliana Doran from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in New Jersey, who received All-NJIGLL – Freedom White Division honors throughout her four years of high school. Doran is a three-time All-Union County Conference pick, an All-State recipient for two years, and holds her school’s all-time goals (301) and points (344) records.
Grace Kerr of San Ramon Valley High School in California collected several awards during her senior year, including USA Lacrosse All-American, CIF North Coast Section Spirit of Sport award, first-team All-East Bay Athletic League midfielder, NorCal All-Star, Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year at her high school, and AP Scholar with Distinction.
Katie Knowlton from Fairview High School in Colorado is a two-time first-team All-State defender who was named 5A East Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and earned Academic All-American honors.
Lulu Murphy out of Winchester High School in Massachusetts is a three-time Middlesex League All-Star and two-time all-conference honoree. She participated in the Agganis All-Star Game as a senior and was recognized by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls and Women in Sports Day for her contributions to athletics.
Sophie Mock from Carmel High School in Indiana achieved USA Lacrosse All-American and Academic All-American status during both her junior and senior years. She was also part of back-to-back state championship teams at Carmel.
Katie McMullen attended Davis Senior High School in California where she earned USA Lacrosse All-American honors along with Athlete of the Year recognition at her school. McMullen was named Sierra Foothill League Player of the Year as a senior.
Maddie Willkomm from Northern Highlands High School in New Jersey received multiple regional honors during her final season including first- and second-team selections for both North Jersey and Bergen County. She also received Athlete of the Week recognition as a senior.
The new recruits bring experience from various regions across the United States with notable achievements both on-field and academically.
