The No. 10 ranked California beach volleyball team began its 2026 home season with two victories on Friday at the Clark Kerr Sand Courts during the Battle of the Bay event. The Golden Bears defeated both Sacramento State and UC Davis by scores of 5-0.

Cal, now holding a 3-4 record, lost only one set across both matches. Sophomore Bella Adishian played her first match for Cal against Sac State, partnering with Grace Hong to secure a win on Court 4 with scores of 21-10 and 21-12. Transfer student Mila Yarich also earned her first win as a Bear after teaming up with Elle Evers to defeat their UC Davis opponents on Court 5, finishing 21-13 and 21-12.

Emma Donley and Portia Sherman, who were recently named AVCA/CBVB National Pair of the Week, won both of their matches in straight sets at the top court position.

The Golden Bears will finish their participation in the Battle of the Bay on Saturday, facing off against USF and Pacific.
