California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced that the California Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Los Angeles. The incident, which occurred on July 14, 2025, resulted in the death of one individual and involved personnel from the Los Angeles Police Department.

The investigation is being conducted under Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), which mandates independent reviews of such incidents. The DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team has initiated the investigation following notification of the event. Once completed, the findings will be submitted to the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for further review.
