California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced an investigation by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) into a recent officer-involved shooting in Los Angeles. The incident, which occurred on June 3, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., resulted in the death of one individual and involved officers from the Los Angeles Police Department.
The DOJ’s involvement follows Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), which mandates independent investigations of certain police shootings. Upon being notified by local authorities, the DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team began its inquiry as per AB 1506 guidelines. Once the investigation is concluded, findings will be forwarded to the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for an independent review.
