Sixteen of the California Golden Bears’ 20 offensive linemen have played at least one collegiate season as the team prepares for the upcoming football season. The roster features several players with experience from other programs and returning contributors.

Leon Bell, who appeared in two games for Mississippi State last year, previously ranked as the No. 2 junior college product in Texas while at Kilgore Junior College. Daveion Harley joins Cal from Jacksonville State after starting eight of 13 games last season, logging over 700 reps at center and allowing just two sacks in 826 plays. He contributed to a rushing offense that ranked second nationally.

Nick Morrow returns as a redshirt sophomore after starting at left tackle for the first 11 games last season before missing the final two due to injury. LaJuan Owens, a transfer from New Mexico, reunites with offensive line coach Famika Anae after starting 10 games as a redshirt freshman for the Lobos and earning Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors against San Diego State. Owens allowed only four quarterback pressures during the 2024 season and was part of an offensive line that gave up five sacks all year.

Lamar Robinson started every game at left guard for Georgia State in 2024, allowing just 18 quarterback pressures over 757 snaps. Tyson Ruffins made nine starts and appeared in 11 games at Nevada last season without surrendering a sack and giving up only one quarterback hurry.

Jordan Spasojevic-Moko made ten starts at Charlotte last year and previously played three seasons at Texas A&M. Bastian Swinney returns to Cal after making multiple starts across different positions on the offensive line in twelve appearances last season. Frederick Williams enters this year with five starts from last season, while Sioape Vatikani returns after three starts before being sidelined by injury.

Famika Anae begins his first season as Cal’s offensive line coach. Anae brings more than ten years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently serving as offensive line coach at New Mexico in 2024. Under his leadership, New Mexico led all FBS teams by allowing only five sacks and just over two tackles for loss per game while ranking fourth nationally in rushing yards per game (253.6) and fourth overall in total offense (484.3 yards per game). At Campbell in 2023, his offensive line ranked second nationally among FCS teams in pass blocking efficiency (93.2), while also helping lead the conference in pass completion percentage.

Anae also coached three all-conference players during his time at Texas A&M Commerce where his unit helped limit sacks to less than two per game on average.

As a player, Anae spent two seasons on BYU’s offensive line before injuries ended his career following All-Independent honors as a starter in 2012.
