The California Golden Bears football team has accepted an invitation to participate in the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl, where they will play against Hawai’i on December 24 at 5 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
This marks the third consecutive bowl appearance for the Golden Bears, their longest streak since a run of seven straight bowl games from 2003 to 2009. It is also the program’s 27th bowl appearance overall.
Following appearances in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl in 2023 and the LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk in 2024, Cal enters this year’s contest with a record of 7-5. They will face the Warriors (8-4) at Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu, seeking their first eight-win season since 2019.
“We are excited to accept an invitation from the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl and continue our season in Honolulu,” said Cal football general manager Ron Rivera. “This is a reward for the hard work our student-athletes put in during the season, and we are looking forward to competing against an excellent Hawai’i team in front of a nationally televised audience.”
Season ticket holders now have priority access to purchase tickets through CalBears.com by selecting “Hawai’i Bowl.” Tickets for the general public will be available starting next Monday at 10 a.m.
Cal holds a 3-2 advantage over Hawai’i in previous meetings between the teams. Their last matchup was in Sydney, Australia, in 2016, when Cal won 51-31.
This upcoming game marks Cal’s second bowl appearance in Honolulu and its first since playing in the Aloha Bowl in 1996.
A review of Cal’s bowl history shows that this year’s participation continues a long tradition dating back to their first Rose Bowl appearance on January 1, 1921.
