The LA Fires cleanup operation, managed by Cal OES and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with support from FEMA, cleared 9,195 properties as part of California’s Consolidated Debris Removal Program. Crews removed over 2.5 million tons of debris, equivalent to twice the amount removed from Ground Zero after 9/11.
A new blueprint for recovery has been unveiled to accelerate rebuilding efforts and provide support to affected families. The executive order suspends local permitting laws and building codes to fast-track reconstruction.

The State of California deployed significant resources before and during the fires to facilitate a rapid response and recovery process. Federal support was secured early on through coordination with both outgoing President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
