California men’s golf ties for fourth after first day at Cabo Collegiate

California men’s golf finished the first round of the Cabo Collegiate in a tie for fourth place after posting a 2-under 282 on Sunday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Sophomore Ziqin Zhou led the team with a personal best 7-under 64, securing solo first place after day one. This marks Zhou’s lowest round since he recorded a 6-under 64 at last season’s Western Intercollegiate.

Redshirt junior Charlie Bundy ended the round tied for 11th with a score of 2-under 69. Freshman Xihuan Chang shot a 2-over 73, while Sihao Cong and Trevor Cox each posted scores of 5-over 76.

The Bears are currently two shots behind Oklahoma State, which leads after the opening round, and trail Arkansas and Arizona State by one stroke for second place.

Competition will continue Monday at 7:30 a.m. PT.
