Governor Gavin Newsom has authorized the predeployment of firefighting resources in Nevada, Sierra, and Plumas counties due to anticipated critical fire weather conditions. The forecasted conditions are expected to affect Northern California from July 23 through July 25, 2025.

“The state is again taking proactive measures to protect communities ahead of dangerous fire weather conditions. I ask the residents of Nevada, Plumas, and Sierra counties to pay attention to local authorities and be prepared to evacuate if told to go,” said Governor Gavin Newsom.

In total, 14 fire engines, four water tenders, and two dispatchers have been positioned in these counties. This action aims to ensure rapid response times and minimize the impact of potential new fires. Such preemptive measures are a vital part of California’s wildfire response strategy.

This decision follows an earlier deployment of resources in Plumas and Sierra counties from July 20 to July 22.

The public is encouraged by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to remain alert during this period. Cal OES advises residents to prepare a wildfire action plan that includes evacuation routes and essential items packed in a go-bag. They also recommend signing up for local emergency alerts for updates on changing conditions.
