California defensive back Hezekiah Masses has been selected for the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America team, according to an announcement made on Tuesday.
Masses has now received All-America honors from three of the five major teams: Walter Camp, Associated Press, and AFCA. The remaining two—The Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America—are expected to announce their selections later this week.
This season, Masses was named to the AFCA’s second team defense. He finished tied for fourth nationally with five interceptions. Within the ACC, his total matched the second highest in the conference.
Alongside his interception tally, Masses led both the nation and the ACC with 18 passes defended. His average of 1.50 passes defended per game was also a national best. He tied for second place in both the ACC and across the country with 13 pass breakups and recorded 43 tackles over 12 games played for California.
He follows Nohl Williams as California’s second consecutive defensive back to earn All-America recognition, with Williams having received similar status in 2024.
