The California softball team lost a close game against North Carolina State, 5-4, on April 11 at Dail Softball Stadium.

The outcome matters for the Bears as they continue their season with a challenging record and look to improve in upcoming games.

NC State took an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning and added another run in the third. Emma Jackson put California on the scoreboard with an RBI single, but NC State answered quickly to make it 4-1. An error by Cal in the sixth allowed NC State to extend its lead to 5-1.

California made a strong effort in the seventh inning. Anaya Togia hit a solo home run, and Maddie Rey followed with a two-run double that brought Cal within one run. Despite having the tying run in scoring position, Cal was unable to complete its comeback.
