The California softball team lost the series finale to Louisville, 12-2, at Viking Field on April 4.

The result affects the Bears’ overall and conference records as they move forward in the season.

Louisville scored first in the opening inning. California responded with two runs in the bottom of the second, including an RBI double by Carly Raven who later scored on a wild pitch. The Cardinals regained control with two runs in the third inning for a 3-2 lead. After two scoreless innings, Louisville extended its advantage by scoring six runs in the fifth and added three more in the seventh to secure their win.

With this loss, California’s record stands at 13 wins and 27 losses overall, and three wins against twelve losses in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The team is scheduled to play next week in an ACC series against NC State.
