The California softball team lost to Louisville, 6-3, at Viking Field on April 3. The defeat means the teams will play a deciding rubber match in their series on Saturday.

This matchup is important for both teams as they look to gain momentum and improve their standings during the season. For California, it was an opportunity to bounce back after previous games and try to even the series.

Louisville took an early lead by scoring two runs in the first inning. California responded with back-to-back home runs from Carly Raven and Anaya Togia in the second inning, tying the score at 2-2. Raven hit her eighth home run of the season while Togia recorded her sixth.

Louisville regained control of the game by scoring one run in the third inning and adding three more in the fourth, extending their advantage to 6-2. California managed one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning but could not close the gap further.

With this loss, California’s record stands at 13 wins and 26 losses overall, with a conference record of three wins and eleven losses in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Bears are scheduled to face Louisville again on Saturday for a chance to win the series.
