No. 16 California women’s gymnastics secured a win at the Sacramento State Tri Meet, finishing with a score of 196.875. The team achieved season-high marks on the uneven bars (49.550) and floor exercise (49.400), defeating both Sacramento State (194.900) and San Jose State (196.000).
Tonya Paulsson led the Bears by earning a personal-best all-around score of 39.500, highlighted by her career-high tying 9.950 routine on bars.
Annalise Newman-Achee started her night with a 9.950 on beam, including one perfect score from a judge, which helped her secure her personal best and an event win. Paulsson contributed a 9.850 on beam as Cal posted a total of 48.900 in that rotation.
Momentum continued for Cal in the second rotation on floor exercise, where Casey Brown recorded her career high of 9.850 and CJ Keuneke matched her personal best with another 9.900, good for silver in the event. Paulsson anchored with a career-high 9.925 to take gold on floor and help the team reach its highest floor score this season.
On vault, Mya Wiley delivered a season-best performance with a stuck landing for a score of 9.825 from the anchor position; Jayden Silvers and Kyen Mayhew matched that mark to tie for third place in the event as Cal compiled an overall vault score of 49.025.
The Bears finished strong on uneven bars, with all six gymnasts sticking their routines—a first this season for the squad—resulting in their top bar performance so far this year. Miki Aderinto opened with a career-high 9.925, while Newman-Achee also scored a season-best 9.925 to tie Aderinto for silver on bars before Paulsson closed out with another routine scoring 9.950, tying her for third place on Cal’s all-time program-bests list in that event.
Cal will now return home to Berkeley for three consecutive meets to close out the regular season, beginning March 7 against Boise State at Haas Pavilion.
