California women’s gymnastics secured its first dual-meet victory of the 2026 season, defeating Pittsburgh in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener on Sunday. The Golden Bears won with a score of 195.550 to the Panthers’ 194.975.
This meet marked Head Coach Geralen Stack-Eaton’s first win as a head coach. “Cal Head Coach Geralen Stack-Eaton recorded her milestone first win as a head coach as the Bears beat the Panthers 195.550-194.975.”
Annalise Newman-Achee led Cal by winning the all-around title, which was her third podium finish this season and her first gold medal. The team took top honors in three out of four events during the competition.
The Bears began strongly on uneven bars, with every competitor scoring above 9.800 and achieving their highest event total at 49.175 points. Casey Brown led with a score of 9.875 to win the event, while Mya Wiley followed closely with a 9.850 for second place.
On vault, Brown continued her performance by sharing the event win with teammate Kyen Mayhew, both earning scores of 9.800. Wiley also contributed a score of 9.775, tying for third place alongside Pitt’s Lailah Green.
During the floor exercise rotation, Cal made some mistakes but maintained its lead over Pittsburgh thanks to solid routines from Mayhew and Tonya Paulsson, each scoring 9.825 and tying for second place with Jaime Pratt from Pitt.
The team finished on balance beam where Sage Melkonian started off with a score of 9.775 and Miki Aderinto matched her career high at 9.825 before Newman-Achee anchored with a routine that scored 9.875, securing Cal’s victory.
Next Saturday, California will host NC State at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley for its home opener at 4 p.m., which will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. Season tickets and single-meet tickets remain available for purchase.
