Matteo Bardana, a sophomore from California men’s gymnastics, contributed to Team Canada’s silver medal victory at the FISU World University Games in Essen, Germany. This achievement marks the first time Canada has secured a men’s artistic gymnastics medal at this event.
The competition took place over two days, with Canada competing on the first day and achieving a total score of 239.593. Bardana’s individual scores included 12.533 on floor, 12.933 on vault, 12.566 on parallel bars, and 12.533 on high bar. His performance was crucial in securing Canada’s second-place finish with a combined score of 41.032 in the high bar event.
Japan claimed first place with a team score of 252.027, while Switzerland finished third with 239.162.
