The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has announced three vacancies on its Fertilizer Inspection Advisory Board. This board provides guidance to the CDFA secretary regarding the Fertilizing Materials Inspection Program (FMIP). The program is responsible for ensuring that fertilizing materials are safe, effective, and meet quality standards. FMIP inspectors conduct routine sampling and inspections, address consumer complaints, and enforce relevant laws and regulations across the state. The program is funded through fees from fertilizing materials licenses, product registrations, and mill assessments.

There are currently two member positions and one public member position open on the board. Each term lasts up to three years. While board members do not receive compensation, they are eligible for travel expense reimbursements as per California Department of Human Resources guidelines. Applicants must have a current fertilizing materials license or represent a licensed firm.

Interested individuals need to submit a resume along with a completed Prospective Member Appointment Questionnaire by August 29, 2025. The questionnaire can be found on the CDFA website. Applications can be emailed to Brittnie.Williams@cdfa.ca.gov and Elizabeth.Moseby@cdfa.ca.gov or mailed to the CDFA Feed, Fertilizer and Livestock Drugs Regulatory Services Branch in Sacramento.

For further details, visit the FMIP website or contact Brittnie Williams or Elizabeth Moseby at (916) 900-5022.
