The Treasurer-Tax Collector of Contra Costa County announced on April 29 that $338,736.17 in unclaimed funds held in the Unclaimed Deposit Trust Fund is subject to proposed disposition.

The announcement affects individuals or entities who may have claims to these funds, which have remained unclaimed for three years or more. The county is acting under Section 50050 of the Government Code.

According to the notice, if no valid claim is filed before June 17, 2026, the money will become property of Contra Costa County. Claims must include the claimant’s name, address, amount sought, grounds for recovery and any other relevant information. The Treasurer will review each claim and decide whether to accept or reject it.

If a claim is rejected, claimants may file a verified complaint with a court within Contra Costa County seeking recovery of all or part of the funds. The complaint and summons must be served upon the County Treasurer within thirty days after notification of rejection. The Treasurer will withhold release of any disputed portion until a court decision is made.

Dan M. Mierzwa signed the notice as Treasurer-Tax Collector for Contra Costa County.
