Prolific drug dealer Bryan Kim Bullard was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his involvement in the fatal fentanyl overdose of Danielle Good, a 25-year-old woman from Carlsbad. Bullard’s sentencing took place in San Diego, where U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon emphasized the severe consequences faced by those who distribute fentanyl and endanger lives.
DEA Special Agent Brian Clark expressed condolences to the victim’s family and highlighted the impact of fentanyl trafficking on communities. During the hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jill Streja argued for the maximum sentence due to Bullard’s disregard for Good during her final hours on September 9, 2023.
Bullard delayed seeking help despite early signs of a medical emergency, engaging instead in online activities while Good lay dying. His actions included requesting Narcan at 11:17 p.m., yet failing to call emergency services until over an hour later and fleeing before assistance arrived.
U.S. Chief District Judge Cynthia A. Bashant handed down the maximum sentence, labeling Bullard as “a one-man crime wave.” She noted his continued criminal activity despite witnessing Good’s death.
The case was investigated by several agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Overdose Response Team and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jill S. Streja.
