FOIA Request to University of California, Davis Regarding Chinese National Students on June 3, 2025.

As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, Golden State Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of California, Davis. The request seeks comprehensive data concerning Chinese National students enrolled at the university.

Our inquiry specifically requests documents or lists detailing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, including their respective departments of study. If privacy concerns necessitate redaction, we have asked for the total number of such students and a breakdown by department.

Additionally, we seek information on scholarships awarded to these students. This includes the amount each student receives and the source of each scholarship. Furthermore, we have requested details about any recipients affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

To ensure intellectual property protection and confidentiality within the university, we have also asked for any policies or procedures that monitor students, including those who are Chinese Nationals.

This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through transparency laws. As media professionals dedicated to public service journalism, we believe this information is vital for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency in higher education.

We await a response from UC Davis and will continue to update our readers as more information becomes available.
