Governor Gavin Newsom has issued an emergency proclamation for the City of Malibu to aid in recovery efforts following the Franklin Fire that occurred in December 2024. The fire caused significant damage and posed a threat to thousands of residents.

The proclamation allows the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to offer assistance under the California Disaster Assistance Act, among other measures.

“The emergency proclamation authorizes the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to provide assistance to the City of Malibu under the California Disaster Assistance Act, among other provisions.”
