Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested a 19-year-old Isla Vista resident, Levi Crabtree, on charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The investigation started on December 5, 2025, after detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip was based on an Electronic Service Provider report that flagged suspected criminal activity involving online content. Detectives identified Crabtree as a resident of the 800 block of Camino Pescadero in Isla Vista.

On January 8, 2026, law enforcement served both a search warrant and an arrest warrant at Crabtree’s residence. He was taken into custody and booked at the Santa Barbara County Main Jail for violating section 311.1(a) of the California Penal Code, which is classified as a misdemeanor. According to authorities, he was released after posting $10,000 bail.

“This investigation is ongoing. There is no information at this time indicating local victims. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Sheriff’s Detectives at (805)681-4150. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can provide information by calling our tip line at (805)681-4171 or online at SBSheriff.org,” according to officials.

Law enforcement encourages parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activity by using privacy settings and parental controls, discussing internet safety openly with them, and reporting any suspected exploitation either directly to law enforcement or through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
