California sophomore Liz Klompmaker has been selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American Third Team, according to an announcement made by the organization on Tuesday. She is among 16 student-athletes named to the third team and is one of 48 players nationwide to receive All-American honors this year.
This recognition is Klompmaker’s first at the All-American level and marks the first time a California Golden Bears player has earned such an honor since Andrea Earle was named to the third team in 2011. Klompmaker becomes the 12th player in program history to achieve this distinction.
Klompmaker’s postseason awards for 2025 include selection to both the NFHCA All-Region First Team and the All-ACC First Team for a second consecutive year. During the season, she ranked fourth in goals scored (16) and third in shots taken (77) within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). She recorded three multi-goal games, including two matches where she scored three goals each. In California’s season-ending win against Stanford, Klompmaker scored twice, tying her for ninth place on Cal’s all-time career goals list.
She registered at least one goal in 11 out of 16 games played this season. On October 14, Klompmaker was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time after netting a game-winning goal during an upset victory over No. 5 Syracuse.
“I am really happy for Liz to be recognized as an All-American,” said Donna Fong Director of Field Hockey Shellie Onstead. “She had a great second season as she settled into the collegiate game and found her role in the attack, utilizing her athleticism and talent. What you don’t see in the statistics is her work rate throughout a game and her contribution to the defensive side of the ball. The coaching staff and her teammates are very proud of her!”
