California sophomore forward Liz Klompmaker has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Collegiate Watchlist, as announced by the organization on Thursday. This recognition adds to her recent selection to the Preseason All-ACC Team earlier this month. Klompmaker is among 196 field hockey players nationwide chosen for the watchlist.

The NFHCA Collegiate Watchlist highlights student-athletes with strong potential for inclusion in this year’s NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams. Eligibility for nomination requires that athletes have received notable field hockey honors in the past two years—such as NFHCA All-Region, NFHCA All-American, All-Conference, Senior Nexus Championship selection, NCAA All-Tournament Team, or a spot on a U.S. National or International Team roster—and must be nominated by their NFHCA member coach.

Klompmaker had a standout freshman season in 2024. She was named ACC Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-ACC honors after tying for second in the conference with 15 goals and five game-winning goals. She also ranked second in shots on goal (45), fourth in points (31), and led her team in each category.

Additionally, Klompmaker received the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award on October 29 after scoring two goals each against Louisville and Wake Forest. Her performance against Louisville helped secure California’s first-ever ACC win. She finished last season with six games where she scored two goals.

California will begin its regular season at Monmouth this Friday at 10 a.m. PT.
