Motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash in Lake Elsinore

A motorcyclist died following a single-vehicle crash near Railroad Canyon Road and Church Road in Lake Elsinore late on May 9, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 p.m. when deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station responded to reports of a major injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, they found a motorcycle rider unresponsive with significant injuries. Despite efforts by deputies and paramedics to provide life-saving measures, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Joshua Coan, a 44-year-old resident of Menifee. The department said that its Traffic Team responded and has assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision.

Authorities have not released further details about what may have led to the crash. The sheriff’s department is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Deputy Petersen at (951) 245–3000 or Riverside Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776–1099.
