U.S. Representative Norma Torres, who represents California’s 35th district in Congress, recently addressed a range of national issues on her official X account.
On September 3, 2025, Torres criticized recent tax policy proposals by stating, “The only ‘working families’ that the Tax Scam intends to help.”
Later the same day, she announced her support for a legislative effort related to the release of documents concerning Jeffrey Epstein. In her post at 20:45 UTC, Torres wrote, “I’ve signed the @RepRoKhanna & @RepThomasMassie discharge petition to force DOJ to release the full #EpsteinFiles within 30 days. Today, we heard from survivors. Americans deserve justice—and the truth.”
Addressing events surrounding January 6, Torres stated in a tweet at 22:59 UTC, “January 6 was a violent attack on our democracy. Five officers died, over 150 were injured, and some rioters are now working in the federal government. I will not stand for taxpayer dollars funding people who tried to overthrow our country. We must hold them accountable.”
Torres has served as a member of Congress since 2015 after replacing Gloria Negrete McLeod and previously held seats in both the California State Assembly and Senate. She was born in Escuintla, Guatemala in 1965 and currently resides in Pomona. Torres holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from National Labor College.
