Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives have apprehended a woman from Oak View on charges of significant financial fraud. The investigation commenced in February 2025, following reports from an organic food supplement business located on the 500-block of Maple Avenue, suspecting embezzlement activities.

The suspect, identified as Angela Elizabeth Phillips, aged 53, was found to have engaged in credit card fraud amounting to over $48,000 and embezzled more than $705,000 within a span of less than four years while employed at the business. Further inquiries revealed that Phillips had been involved in similar offenses previously.

On June 3, 2025, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives collaborated with Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives to arrest Phillips at the 11000-block of N. Ventura Avenue in Ojai. She was subsequently booked into the Main Jail facing charges of embezzlement, aggravated white-collar fraud, and false impersonation. Her bail is set at $800,000.
