Yasmin Charisse Millett, a 22-year-old from Oakland, has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison for her involvement in a series of bank robberies. The sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.
Court documents reveal that between June 2023 and September 2024, Millett and her co-conspirators carried out at least ten bank robberies across various California cities such as Sacramento, Vallejo, Suisun City, Benicia, Concord, and Antioch. Millett played a significant role by recruiting individuals to enter banks or credit unions equipped with sunglasses, a purse, and threatening demand notes.
One incident on July 17, 2023, involved Millett using a stolen white Audi A7 to commit a robbery at a Suisun City credit union. While Millett waited in the vehicle, her accomplice delivered the demand note to an employee inside the bank. The note demanded money with threats of violence if not complied with. After obtaining the money from the employee, they fled together in the getaway car.
The following day during a traffic stop of the stolen vehicle driven by Millett, law enforcement discovered bait money linked to the robbery and a crumpled demand note on the driver’s seat containing further threats.
Two co-defendants involved in these crimes have also pleaded guilty: Dontae Jones Jr., aged 20 without a fixed address in Northern California; and JoMya Mauriyne Futch from Richmond who is 21 years old are both scheduled for sentencing on August 7th this year after admitting guilt earlier this April.
