On June 26, 2025, a coordinated operation involving over 550 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers led to the execution of 54 search warrants in Huron, Fresno County, and surrounding areas. The operation resulted in the arrest of eighty-nine criminal street gang members and associates on charges filed in both federal and state courts. Law enforcement seized firearms, ammunition, methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine during the investigation.
The unsealed complaint charges 38 members and associates from the Huron Dog Life, Coalinga Dog Life, and San Joaquin Ruthless Perro cliques of the Bulldog street gang with various drug and firearms trafficking offenses.
Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith stated that this announcement reflects a commitment to addressing crime’s root causes in collaboration with law enforcement partners. She said: “Criminal street gangs inflict real harm on our communities by trafficking deadly drugs and firearms that destroy lives and neighborhoods.”
Special Agent in Charge Sid Patel from the FBI Sacramento Field Office commented on the collaborative efforts: “Yesterday’s operation was the culmination of months of collaborative work to disrupt gang-driven violence.” Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni highlighted that this collective work would improve safety for residents in smaller rural communities.
Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp emphasized cooperation among agencies: “This operation is a powerful example of what can be achieved when law enforcement agencies at every level work together.”
The investigation began in February 2024 focusing on Bulldog gang activities in Fresno County. The complaint details an extensive criminal conspiracy involving drug smuggling attempts using contraband phones for coordination.
This case was investigated by multiple agencies including the FBI, MAGEC, California Department of Justice Special Operations Unit among others. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Robert L. Veneman-Hughes, Luke Baty, and Antonio Pataca are prosecuting this case under OCDETF.
The defendants face potential sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment upon conviction with final sentencing decisions left to court discretion based on statutory factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
