Placer County will host the Placer4MentalHealth Wellness Fair on May 21 at the Maidu Community Center in Roseville, according to an April 30 announcement. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is organized in partnership with the local Campaign for Community Wellness.

The fair aims to increase awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and connect residents with wellness resources. Organizers say it builds on previous years’ events and supports ongoing efforts to make mental health support accessible for all community members.

This free event offers opportunities for families and individuals to learn about available mental health services, participate in wellness activities, and meet local service providers. The “Placer4MentalHealth” initiative was launched three years ago by Placer County’s Adult and Children’s Systems of Care together with CCW to promote conversations around mental well-being.

“The Wellness Fair is one of the moments each year when we get to see the strength of this community up close. People come not just for information, but to connect, to recharge and to support one another,” said Amy Ellis, Placer County’s Behavioral Health Director. “May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we’re doing what we can to make support easy to find and even easier to reach.”

According to organizers, many people nationwide face mental health challenges but may not seek help due to stigma or barriers in accessing care. Residents are encouraged by county officials to take the ‘Be the Change’ pledge at placer4mentalhealth.org as part of ongoing efforts against stigma.

Immediate assistance remains available through Placer County’s crisis line at 916-787-8860 or 1-888-886-5401. Requests for mobile crisis team services have increased by 165% over three years as reported by county officials.

The event is supported by community partners including Placer County Health and Human Services as well as criminal justice partners. Organizers also recognized peer workforce members who contributed significantly in planning and fundraising.
