U.S. Representative Norma Torres, who has represented California’s 35th district since 2015, recently highlighted her engagement with local initiatives and community events in a series of social media posts.
On August 6, 2025, Torres announced her participation in a local affordable housing project, stating, “It was an honor to join National CORE and local stakeholders to celebrate the groundbreaking of 75 new affordable housing units in #CA35. I’m proud to have provided $1.4M in federal funding for this project through the appropriations process to make this project a reality.”
Later that day, she shared details about National Night Out activities: “Last night, #TeamTorres joined our communities for #NationalNightOut! Proud to stand with neighbors, law enforcement, and local leaders to help build safer, stronger neighborhoods across #CA35. Community is our first line of safety. “
On August 7, Torres posted about constituent outreach efforts at a local farmers market: “My office was out at the local farmers market this weekend, connecting with the community and providing services and federal resources. It is a great way to engage with constituents around #CA35!”
Torres succeeded Gloria Negrete McLeod as the U.S. Representative for California’s 35th district in 2015 and previously served in both the California State Assembly (2008–2013) and Senate (2013–2014). She was born in Escuintla, Guatemala in 1965 and currently resides in Pomona. Torres holds a BA from National Labor College.
