Rep. Norma Torres, who represents California’s 35th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on her community engagement activities through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter). The tweets highlight her ongoing involvement with local events and services for constituents.
On August 16, 2025, Torres posted about her participation at local farmers markets: “A beautiful cloud cover kept us cool during our Saturday extended office hours at the Pomona Valley Certified Farmers Market and Upland Farmers Market. Make sure to catch us next Saturday!”
Two days later, on August 17, she marked a milestone for a local recreational group: “Celebrating 70 years of Pomona Lawn Bowling! This community gem has brought people together for generations with free lessons, equipment & timeless fun. Huge thanks to Barbara & Edward for 7 years of dedicated volunteerism! Here’s to many more!”
On August 18, Torres highlighted constituent services provided by her office: “Today my office hosted a passport clinic, where we assisted constituents with first-time applications, passport renewals, and photos! Check-out visit our next clinic on Thursday 08/28 to get free passport help!”
Torres has served as the representative for California’s 35th District since 2015 after succeeding Gloria Negrete McLeod. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2013 and served in the California Senate from 2013 to 2014. Born in Escuintla, Guatemala in 1965 and currently residing in Pomona, Torres holds a BA from National Labor College.
