Rep. Norma Torres, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 35th district, recently shared updates on her participation in community events and support for local businesses through a series of posts on X.
On August 8, 2025, Torres highlighted her involvement with veterans at a monthly event, writing: “It was exciting to join local veterans with the Kilroy Coffee Klatch at the @PlanesofFame. #TeamTorres was proud to be part of this monthly event to share federal resources, answer casework questions, and connect with those who served. Stop by next month — we’re here to help!”
Later that day, she invited constituents to meet her team at local farmers markets: “Come say hi! Our team will be at the Upland and Pomona Farmers Markets for community office hours—ready to answer your questions, connect you with resources, and assist with federal casework. Stop by, grab some fresh produce, and let’s chat!”
On August 10, 2025, Torres congratulated a new small business in her district: “On this #SmallBusinessSunday, we want to congratulate La Carnicería Meat Market on their grand opening! They’re bringing that familiar sabor our community loves. Whether it’s for a weekend carne asada or a weeknight dinner, they’ve got you covered. Support local businesses”
Torres has represented California’s 35th district since 2015 after succeeding Gloria Negrete McLeod. She previously served in both the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2013 and the California Senate from 2013 to 2014. Born in Escuintla, Guatemala in 1965 and currently residing in Pomona, Torres holds a BA from National Labor College.
